MATERIALS LIST FOR ACRYLIC PAINTING/Working With ColorBRUCE WOODPaints:All from www.utrechtart.com Note: I use the Utrecht "Artist's Acrylic" line of paint (not the studio or fluid line) because of the high pigment content and thick viscosity of the paint. Since we will be studying color effects, using the best paints will make the work easier. IF YOU PREFER TO WORK WITH ANOTHER BRAND, BE AWARE THAT these are all SINGLE PIGMENT paints. NOT "HUES" Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Titanium White (5 oz. minimum.) The following should be 2oz or 5oz tubes: Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Cadmium Yellow Medium Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Cadmium Yellow Light Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Yellow Ochre Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Phthalo Blue Green Shade Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Cobalt Blue Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Ultramarine Blue Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Chromium Oxide Green Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Permanent Green Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Quinacridone Red Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Cadmium Red Medium Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Cadmium Red Extra Deep Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Quinacridone Violet Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Burnt Sienna Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Color, Raw Sienna ------------------- Brushes:Cheap natural white bristle brushes can often be purchased in sets. Sometimes you'll find good ones at Ocean State Job Lots or AC Moore Same thing with synthetic bristle brushes. You'll need a variety, but here's the minimum: Flats: #12 long bristle -- or 1' #8 long bristle -- or 5/8" #10 short #6 short Rounds: #9, #8, #4, #2, #1 white bristle #3, #0 synthetic or sable #1 or #2 sable or sable blend rigger or liner One palette knife - any size, for mixing & cleaning the palette ---------------- Palette:If you do not have a palette, here are some suggestions: 12" x 16" x 1/4" plate glass is best, painted white on the bottom side. Alternatively, disposable paper palettes will suffice. The Masterson Sta-Wet Premier Palette is and air-tight unit for keeping the paint from drying out. I put the plate-glass palette in it, instead of their sponge and paper inserts. -------------- MORE:Spray-mist bottle (small plant sprayer) ----------------
